What Is The Best Extraction Method For Coconut Oil?

Coconut is a tropical high-yield oil crop. At present, many manufacturers in my country have no experience in processing tropical oils, so the application of conventional methods and equipment to produce oil often brings many problems. Combined with our experience, we will summarize some experiences for colleagues who are committed to the processing and production of tropical vegetable oils. 

Coconut oil is mainly produced by squeezing dry coconut oil. Taking the conventional Coconut oil extraction process of squeezing dry coconut oil by a 20t/d large screw oil press as an example, the production process of coconut oil is analyzed. 

The main equipment components of the 20T/D coconut oil press production line are: 1 hammer mill, 1 flaking machine, 1 steaming pan, 2 screw oil presses, 1 oil clarifier, 1 centrifugal oil residue separator, 5 chain elevators, and 1 belt conveyor. 

Coconut oil production line process and issues that need attention 

1. Conveying dried coconut: Dried coconut raw materials are block solids and should not be transported by elevators; because the imported small scraper conveyor is too small, the feeding is not smooth, and the large scraper conveyor is too expensive, so a belt conveyor is selected, and its inclination should not exceed 30 degrees, otherwise it is easy to drop the material. Install an iron removal device on the conveying device before crushing to prevent metal substances from damaging the processing equipment and ensure the quality of coconut oil cakes. 

2. Crushing: Coconut meat is a tough block solid obtained by drying coconut meat, with a size of 180 cm 100 mm 6 mm. Therefore, the problem of crushing coconut meat should be solved first. A hammer crusher should be used to increase the size of the sieve hole, reduce the number of hammers, and evenly arrange the hammers across. Coconut is a high-oil oil, and a chain elevator is used to transport the crushed material. 

3. Rolling: Dried coconut has a high oil content, and it is easy to produce oil if the rolling distance is too small. In addition, after crushing and conveying, the grease has penetrated into the surface of the material, which is easy to agglomerate and stick to the roller, resulting in difficulty in rolling or even blockage; if the dry coconut is hard and tough, the density is low, and the roll spacing is too small, the material will accumulate between the two rolls. 

4. Steaming and frying: Due to the continuous stirring of the steam frying pan, the dry coconut can easily come out of the frying pan and drip oil down along the main shaft, causing waste in the workshop and environmental pollution; at the same time, the material is easy to agglomerate, which brings difficulties to transportation. Solution: Reduce the degree of pulverization of the material, reduce the stirring time, and frequently clean the discharge nozzle of the steam frying pan and the discharge nozzle of the elevator to prevent material aggregation. 

5. Oil pressing: Due to the different properties of the crushed dry coconut and ordinary oil, conventionally, there may be problems such as no feed, no cake, and no oil in the oil discharge section of the pressing cage. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the gap between the layers. When squeezing the dry coconut material, the gap between the strips should be very small. After improving the steaming and frying conditions of the material, the feeding is normal, and the oil is mainly produced in the second stage and the third stage. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of feeding, before the temperature of the pressure chamber rises, the material flow rate entering the pressure chamber cannot be large, otherwise it is easy to form a thin paste at the feeding point, resulting in poor cake discharge or even sintering. 

6. Oil clarification and filtration: Coconut dry contains a lot of fiber, so the crude oil contains a lot of slag. In order to reduce the burden of the filter, an oil clarification process is set up in the process flow, and the oil residue is directly returned to the oil press for oil pressing. The linear speed of the scraper in the oil clarification tank is 3.73 mm/s, and the crude coconut oil obtained is subjected to five stripping processes of the refining equipment to obtain coconut oil.
